The Palindrome
Genre: New Adult Epic Fantasy
Nineteen-year-old Mynah knows all about the Palindrome. She’s seen its euphoric highs of power wither into the self-destructive pit of despair. It destroyed her mother; it destroyed her life, and she won’t let it sink its claws into her too.
Forced to seek safe haven in the castle where magic seeks its own hosts, her plan is to pretend to compete whilst avoiding the Palindrome at all costs. But it knows she’s there. It toys with her, manipulating her feelings, haunting her dreams.
The first nomad in decades to enter, she feels the scorn of her fellow recruits as her mother’s sordid past is dredged up and dumped on her shoulders, whilst the working-class kingdom eagerly watches her progress, hoping she paves the way for those not of noble birth to have a chance of bonding and claiming the magic.
Despite all these pressures, Mynah thinks she’s strong enough to resist the lure of magic until the Prince of Alba enters her life. If she falls for him then they will be bound together. She’s seen it happen time and time again. If the Palindrome starts, there’s only ever one outcome. It starts as it ends.
