The Bounty of Blood and Nails

Status: Coming fall 2025 with City Owl Press
Genre: Adult Dark Romantic Fantasy

It’s fun to be the bad guy, until you develop a conscience.

Tam is a heartless, ruthless bounty hunter—or so her handler would have you believe. She uses blood magic to track her victims, the same blood magic that is outlawed across the realm and which bound her to this life in an unbreakable curse. If she fails it’s not just her life on the line, but that of her family.

Sent to a small town in the superstitious north where even a glimmer of magic will send you to the gallows, she’s forced to confront the consequences of her actions when her pursuit leads to the brutal murder of her bounty, and innocent townspeople are blamed.

On the verge of wavering her handler raises the stakes. Her new target is the enigmatic, charming, Prince Canute. Tam infiltrates the castle as a maid but the castle itself seems to watch her every move, her words whispered directly into the prince’s ears through an ancient magic she’s never faced before. To access him, she befriends his uptight, loyal bodyguard, Clement, hoping he will spill the secrets she needs. She grows closer to Clement, looking for a confidant but discovering instead that his life is fated to that of the prince.

As her handler severs the timeline for completion and the castle tightens its hold, she's then forced to watch the trial of the people blamed for her own prior actions. But what could be worse than suddenly developing a conscience? Falling in love with the person whose life you’re about to destroy.

Possessions

Genre: Historical Fantasy

To save her beloved sister, Esmerelda Black is not going to sell her own soul to the Devil. She’s going to feed him the souls of others.

In Victorian London, Esmerelda is a medium with an ability beyond communication with the spirit world: she can possess living people and steal a piece of their souls. When her beloved sister Daisy commits suicide and is condemned to Purgatory, Esmerelda makes a deal with the Devil: in exchange for Daisy’s passage into Heaven, she must feed him seven pieces of living souls representing the Seven Deadly Sins.

Esmerelda’s success is hampered by Lady Grafton, the first payment of her debt from whom she took Sloth, unintentionally creating a driven, ruthless woman intent on revenge. With Lady Grafton on her tail, she is also being blackmailed by the leading political candidate, Dorian Rosewood, who steals her scrying board—her only method of communication with the Devil—forcing her to use her talents for his campaign.

As time runs out, Esmerelda races to complete her task and save her sister from damnation. But with a monster of her own making hunting her down, she must decide how far she is willing to go, leading to a deadly final showdown.

About Natalie

I am a veterinarian and a proud mother of three. Originally from Stratford-Upon-Avon I now live outside of Boston.

Finally ready for the career change I have always wanted, I joined Jericho Writers and am an alumni of their Ultimate Novel Writing Course 2023/24. I love to write in the SFF genre usually with a dark and speculative twist. An animal or two will usually pop up somewhere in my writing!

When not reading or writing or reading about writing, you can find me out on a long run, lost in my imagination (or a good audiobook) as I plan my next novel.
